Take the list of jobs you have and write down what you do at each one … if none of them have hedges, you don’t need to carry a hedge trimmer, do you?

One trap you should avoid is thinking “big” … make sure you have rakes small enough to get behind bushes, and a string trimmer with a narrow cutting area. A small home-style mower is useful for small places. Not everyone has their bushes 36+ inches apart, and narrow strips along sidewalks are common.

The only maintenance companies here who have the big mowers are maintaining parks, grassy drainage areas, and other large grassy areas.
